Blog Post 4

I have been sticking to my goal of doing yoga at least five times per week these past few weeks. I have learned that no one can really be considered "good" at yoga. No matter how good you are at a certain pose, there is always a way that you challenge yourself further. There are so many modifications that people can take in a pose that will either make it harder or easier for them. I noticed in yoga class that every single persons pose looks at least a little bit different. I learned that there is no right or wrong way to do a pose.

Week 3

This week I went to each of the types of yoga classes offered at the Yoga Shelter. All of the types of classes feel like a completely different experience. Though they are not similar at all, my two favorite classes are Yin and Yoga Rocks Bootcamp. Yin is very slow and calm because you have to hold poses for long periods of time. It is a great stretch for your muscles. Yoga Rocks Bootcamp is fast-paced and incorporates dance, kick-boxing, and aerobic exercises with yoga. It really is like a bootcamp because the most I have ever sweat in my life is during those classes. This week has been good for me to explore and figure out which type of yoga works best for me. I think that I like the classes the best when I have to push myself, so next week I am going to continue to push myself and keep working to get better. I have definitely improved these past two weeks, but I still have a long way to go. One goal that I have is to completely clear my mind during yoga. Instructors always at some point tell their classes to "focus on the breath"and let everything else in their mind go, but it is hard for me to clear my mind entirely. That is what i am going to work on next week.

Week 2

I bought a membership at the Yoga Shelter on Wednesday and have gone to yoga three times in the remainder of the week. Since I had been on a break from yoga for a while, it is much harder for me and I have to push myself more than I used to, but I can feel myself getting better and stronger after every class. I have been feeling proud of myself this past week because yoga is a so much better workout than just running on the treadmill in my basement. I am excited to get in shape! From only attending three yoga classes, I already notice a positive change in my stress level and mood. Next week, I plan to explore all of the different types of yoga classes that are offered at the Yoga Shelter. So far, choosing to do yoga for my project was a great decision!

My First Blog Post

Hi! My name is Ava Majoros and I am taking Honors American Literature class this year at Grosse Pointe South High School in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. For my 20 Time project I am going to change my lifestyle by doing yoga almost every day and by learning more about it along with spirituality. I have done yoga in the past and enjoyed it a lot. During the period of time when I had done yoga consistently, I noticed changes in myself physically and mentally. I became stronger, more flexible, and in shape. I felt less stressed out all of time and was an overall happier person.  The only reason why i stopped doing yoga is because it hard for me to find the time for it with sports and homework. I am so happy that I am given the opportunity to do the 20 Time project because now I can make the time to do and explore yoga, which is what I have been wanting to do for a while, before I had even heard about the project. Along with learning about the different poses in yoga, I also want to learn about the spiritual aspect. One of my goals is to learn to meditate and align to seven body chakras. During yoga classes, the instructor will sometimes encourage the class to try to do these things, but i have never accomplished them. I plan to do a huge amount of research on everything about yoga and it's benefits. I am going to buy a membership at the Yoga Shelter in Grosse Pointe City. I love the peaceful atmosphere it provides and the friendly instructors that always have words of wisdom to give. My goal is to attend at least five classes a week. I am confident that my project will be a success as long as I stick with it. I am hoping that by the end of this year my life will be changed for the better. I would like to become a more spiritual, positive, and happy person because of this project, which is my overall goal. As long as I continue to have fun and benefit from doing yoga, I plan to continue doing it long after my project is over. I am extremely excited to get started on this project and hopefully change my life!
